Indiana School for the Blind

Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired

RestoreWorks engaged for multi-year, multi-building restoration project.

Restoration project encompassed all facets of RestoreWorks services

RestoreWorks won the government bid for The Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired project.  The campus located in Indianapolis, IN has many buildings dating back to the 1930's.  Over the years, the harsh midwest weather damaged several structures.  The scope of work for this project was extensive, tapping into all services offered by RestoreWorks.

One major element of the project required tearing down and rebuilding a brick faced tunnel and finishing the project with an epoxy coated concrete walkway on top.

Several buildings required repairs to the parapets.  This involved removing damaged brick, installing flashing, and rebuilding the brick.

A central building on the campus houses a bell tower with terra cotta decorative elements.  These terra cotta pieces needed to be cataloged, removed, replicated and re-installed.   In addition, masonry restoration was required on the bell tower.

Across the campus, shelf and lintel replacements were needed, along with extensive caulking and sealant work.

Work on this project spanned 36 months and the RestoreWorks crews were able to complete the project on schedule.
